Learning as he went, then later with the guidance of a local vocational program in his home state of Oregon, he began to "tinker" with the car. When he was 16, his parents moved back to their native Kentucky. John and the '55 came along. Over the years he has sub-framed the car,
taken the body down to bare metal, painted, repainted, driven, burned out motors and rebuilt motors. He still loves his '55. Other cars have come into John's life and gone. One is this '69 Firebird. which he, of course, restored.

Another of his favorites that he no longer owns is this '68 Ford pickup. As a general rule, John's vehicles get sub-framed in order to have the newer brake systems. Or as in the case of this pickup, he fabricates the frames himself.
